Coronel Oviedo is the capital of the Caaguazú region and has about 55,000 inhabitants
This is the hometown of the ex-president of Paraguay Nicanor Duarte Frutos. In addition, Coronel Oviedo is the general starting point for the annual pilgrimage to Caacupe.
